Stéphane Rougier Violin

Stéphane Rougier started to learn the violin in Strasbourg. At the age of 14, he was received at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he obtained prizes in the class of Véda Reynolds. In his formative years, he also worked with Peter Csaba and was involved in many recordings and creations with Radio France, as part of the workshop on 20th century musical studies.

Continuing with Roland Daugareil, the latter introduced him to the Bordeaux-Aquitaine National Orchestra, where he worked for a year, with Alain Lombard conducting. He then left Bordeaux for the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra. He also went to Stuttgart, where he studied with Georg Baynov. In 1996, he earned an appointment as soloist in the Nancy Symphonic and Lyric Orchestra.

He regularly plays as a soloist alongside many French orchestras in France as well as in international concerts. Among others, he’s been invited many times to play in Hungary with Peter Csaba and Zoltan Kocsis, during the Bartók Festival.

Since 2002, he’s back in Bordeaux as first soloist in the Bordeaux-Aquitaine National Orchestra, con- ducted by Hans Graf and today by Kwamé Ryan. He teaches at the regional music academy and forms, together with Cécile Rouvière, Tasso Adamopoulos and Etienne Péclard, the Bordeaux Quartet. Stéphane plays on a violin made by J.B. Vuillaume dating from 1826, kindly lent by Patrice Taconne.
