Etienne Péclard Cello

Creates the Quatuor Garonne

and the Partitas Romanes

Studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he obtained in 1967 a First Prize in cello in the class of André Navarra, a First Prize in chamber music with Jacques Février and a First Prize in professional chamber music with Jacques Calvet.

Between 1971 and 1974, he attends an improvement course with Jean Hubeau and Christian Lardé, as well as trainings with Mstislav Rostropovitch and Jànos Starker.

He is a successful candidate of the International Competitions of Vienna (1967), Munich (1968), and Barcelona (1973).

Between 1977 and 1980, he works as solo cellist at the “New Radio-France Philharmonic Orchestra” (N.O.P.). Between 1980 and 1990, he is first solo cellist at the Paris Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Barenboim and Semyon Bychkov. Since 1990, he is first solo cellist at the “Bordeaux Aquitaine National Orchestra” (O.N.B.A.).

With these three orchestras, he played as soloist classical and contemporary works conducted by Gilbert Amy, Emmanuel Krivine with the N.O.P., by Jean-Bernard Pommier, Witold Lutoslavski, Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez with the Paris Orchestra, by Alain Lombard, Yutaka Sado, J. Latham-Koenig, Hans Graf, Stéphane Denève, and Vincent Barthe with the O.N.B.A.

His eclecticism leads him to enjoy playing chamber music together with prestigious musicians such as the “Quatuor Via Nova”, the “Trio Pasquier”, Daniel Barenboim, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Brigitte Engerer, François- René Duchâble, Jean-François Heisser, Pierre Doucan, Pierre Amoyal, Patrice Fontanarosa, Olivier Charlier, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Gérard Poulet, Pinchas Zuckermann, Isaac Stern, Roland Pidoux, Patrick Gallois, Pierre Moraguès and Marielle Nordmann.

He also worked as solo cellist in “La Grande Ecurie et La Chambre du Roy”, an ensemble conducted by Jean- Claude Malgoire, and in “L’Itinéraire”, with Tristan Murail, during many years.

He has formed a string trio with Roland Daugareil and Tasso Adamopoulos: “Trio Sartory”, and since 2001, he is a member of the quartet of the O.N.B.A., renamed recently to “Bordeaux Quartet”, which plans a world tour in 2012.

Etienne Péclard recorded with the O.N.B.A., conducted by Alain Lombard, J. Brahms’ Double Concerto, S. Proko- fiev’s Symphony-Concerto and E. Bloch’s Schelomo.

With the ONBA, he played as soloist Dvoràk’s Concerti, Schumann, Tchaikovsky (Roccoco), Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, Dutilleux, Haydn in C and D major, and Saint-Saens, with conductors such as: Alain Lombard, Yutaka Sado, Hans Graf, Stéphane Denève, , Frédéric Lodéon, and Armin Jordan for Richard Strauss’s Don Quichotte.

Lastly, he will be playing Korngold’s Concerto in November 2011, conducted by Jurjen Hempel.
